I was talking to one of my coworkers at lunch about what I posted yesterday. He had a good point for the argument on the side of Microsoft. It would hurt the economy according to him. Maybe not the decision itself, but what that would lead to. If the U.S. does nothing and Microsoft has to pay the fine, then what's to stop other countries from following suit? Suppose China says the same thing, is that another $675 million fine? If we let this go, then why wouldn't every other nation walk all over us? If Microsoft keeps paying fines like that, it will hurt them. If the most successful American company loses market share, it will affect the whole market in a ripple effect. We don't want that. I don't think Bush would let this happen. Of course, the liberals are just going to see it as Bush's own personal interest in his portfolio watching out for the big corporate man. My coworker has a very good sense in business. It's always fun to bounce financial ideas off him. In turn, he always bounces his spiritual ideas off me. Pray for him.
